PTI July Blog hop

It's the monthly Blog Hop at Papertrey Ink today.
The inspiration picture is so lovely
My card feeds off the image of the envelope with assorted stamps.

I found postage images in a number of places - PTI Postmarks, a TH set and a HA set - all stamped in Blueberry sky. The sentiments are from Travellers Journal: Adventure. I'm still hoping to one day PTI will release the word dies for this set separately from the journal cover, or maybe Heather could include the word "adventure" in her ways to say series. That would be perfect.
The card is earmarked for my niece who's heading off to university in September.

MIM #292

A card for this weeks Make it Monday challenge at Papertrey ink.
My colour blocking is ombre rather than complementary, having used worn lipstick, abandoned coral and ripe persimmon distress inks.
The sentiment (Think big favourittes) and leaves (Songbirds) are heat embossed and the vellum flowers were added to soften the black a little.

MIM #291

Coming late to this week's challenge at Papertrey Ink.
My son is currently on a once-in-a-lifetime school trip to Honduras where they're spending their days doing ecological research on a marine reef.
The teacher who organised it deserves a medal, but she's getting a card.

I think this techinque would be very difficult without a stamping platform, but with one I was able to get the shadow on a very thin sentiment (Think big favourites #5).
I sponged over the top with tumbled glass, broken china and faded jeans distress inks and then flicked on some water drops to make the watery background.
The "for the adventure" part is a mask and adapt combination of 2 sentiments from the Ahoy set.

PTI Create along July 2017

My favourite time of the month again at Papertrey ink, and the Create along with us  challenge.
It's only the first day of the countdown, and and sure there'll be lots of cards I'm inspired by, but today's was this one by Nichole.
This is what I did with the idea
I used the What the doodle: Sun set for the mask and clouds, and Keep it simple: Encouragement for the sentiments.

MIM #290

This weeks Make it Monday at Papertrey Ink gave me another excuse to use the stencils from the herb garden set.
I tried to be clever with "double masking", using the birthday sentiment from super swoosh as a mask before then layering a few of the thyme plants from herb garden over the top. Once I'd stamped the sentiment however it was still lost in all the plants so I added the die cut image (having first made a dreadful job of trying to make the stamped sentiment bolder with the aid of a sharpie).
